What’s the One Dumb Thing that You Used to Believe in?

Danielle Laporte has a really cool question on her blog today: What’s the one dumb thing that you used to believe in?

I believed that someone else had all the answers to my BIG questions.

Questions like,

Who Am I?

Why am I here?

What happens when I die?

Not only did I believe someone else knew the answers, I let them convince me that only they could teach me those answers. It takes two to play this game. When they convinced me they had the answers to my BIG questions, it became easy to give up my power to them in all the little things in my life like sex, love, and housework.

What I now know to be true is that the only answers to those questions come from a place within me that speaks the truth without words.

I know that when I feel those answers within me, I don’t have to be convinced of their truth.

I believe in my own personal truth, and it saved my sanity.

I have answers to all three questions. One of the answers translates to; I don’t know. That is also truth.

And that, by far, is still less frightening then giving my power away to someone who knows it all.

I absolutely agree! We all have our own answers inside of us. It can be helpful to find another person who can gently question and get us to consider all the possibilitities; but, in the end, we know deep down what is right for us. Thanks for sharing!

It’s revolutionary! We’re taught in so many places we don’t have the answers and it’s wrong to question. Thanks for commenting!
